Detailed product description
The gold American Eagle is an official bullion coin issued by the United States Mint and is a very popular investment coin worldwide. The American Eagle has a purity of 91,67% (22 carats), has a gross weight of 33,93 grams and has a net weight of 31,10 grams of gold. This smaller version weighs exactly a tenth of the original American Eagle - 3,39 grams - and has a net gold weight of 1/10 troy ounce (3,11 grams).

American Eagle

The American Eagle is produced annually by the United States Mint and was first introduced by the US government in 1986.

Purity & weight

The golden 1/10 American Eagle has a purity of 916,7/1.000 (22 carats) and has a net weight of 3,11 grams (1/10 troy ounce). The remaining 0,28 grams consist of silver and copper, which gives the coin a lighter color. This alloy, incidentally, ensures that the coin is damaged less quickly than other troy ounce coins with a purity of 999,9/1.000, such as the Maple Leaf.

Design of the gold 1/10 American Eagle

On the front of the gold American Eagle you can see the rework of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Lady Liberty, also known as the original $20 Saint-Gaudens coins. Lady Liberty is the United States personification and is depicted with waving hairs, a torch in the right and an olive branch in the left hand.

Behind her, the sun rises above the Capitol, as a symbol of the strong American economy and the dawn of the era of the new financial superpower. To the right of Lady Liberty you see the year of issue of the coin, which was expressed in Roman numerals from 1986 to 1991, and something below the initials of August Saint-Gaudens. The 51 stars around the coin represent the 50 states of the United States + the federal district of Washington D.C.

On the backside is a design of Miley Busiek; a  flying male eagle with an olive branch in the claws above a nest containing a female eagle and her young. Additionally, at the top of the coin 'United States Of America' you see the United States old motto: 'E Pluribus Unum'. Underneath the motto, the nominal value, the weight, the purity content are displayed together with the motto "In God we trust".

Buying a gold 1/10 American Eagle

The 1/10 American Eagle and other gold coins are perfectly suitable as a purchase of physical gold. Gold coins are not taxed because they are considered monetary gold. And while all the gold coins offered by Argentor have been tested for authenticity, they are not delivered with a certificate of authenticity. That, unlike gold bars.
